Happy Birthday, Love!!

Today is my husband's birthday. Can I tell you how much I love this man?!?! Ok, really, I can't. He's that great. He works hard with no complaint, then comes home and helps out with the kids. I don't even have to ask him to!! On weekends, he spoils us all rotten and usually does the cooking. Besides all his attributes and talents... the man is a hottie!!!!

Happy Birthday, Honey!!!!!!

Do you ever feel.....

like a paper bag, floating through the wind- wanting to start again?

Ok, really- this means 2 things. One being that we finally joined the modern world and got a wii! And with it, we got Just Dance 2. I'm hoping, hoping, hoping that I can do it enough to lose a bit of weight- since people are noticing how big baby is looking- even though I'm not preggers anymore. Oy! Anyway- I did the Katy Perry- Fireworks dance tonight. It was fun!

Also, I was wondering if you ever feel- literally- like I post too much digiscrap stuff? Well I finally bought the last skein of yarn I need to finish my 4th of July afghan, so hopefully I'll have pics of that to show you soon.

Friday Finish It

Look! I remembered! And ON Friday, no less!!

This week was INSANE!!! Not a whole lot got done on the crafty stuff for me circuit because I was so busy doing New Beginnings. For those of you who don't know, New Beginnings is a meeting we have once a year for the Young Women in our church. Normally, the Young Women's program includes girls 12-18, but this is a chance to meet the 11 year olds who are coming in that year. It also reminds the girls and their parents the purpose of the young women and to get them excited about Personal Progress. Personal Progress is a program the girls do that helps them develop a relationship with their Heavenly Father as well as learn to make and keep goals, learn life skills, and become the best they can be. You can read more about it HERE.

Anyway- USUALLY New Beginnings is a quiet little meeting. This year, I read about THIS New Beginnings Activity. So we decided to give it a shot! And since I'm crazy controlling, I made all the handouts and stuff myself.

So we had 8 rooms set up representing a Store and a Value (Faith, Divine Nature, Individual Worth, Knowledge, Choice and Accountability, Good Works, Integrity, and Virtue). What you DON't see in these pics is that every room had a handout in it. Each girl got a shopping back and went from room to room where they listened to a very short talk on each of the values and got a handout. So it went like this:

Faith, the store was Journeys, and the handout was a shoelace with a quote that said, "With Faith in every footstep, we follow Christ the Lord"

Divine Nature, the store was Bath and Body Works, where the girls got a little bit of bath salt and a quote on there about being the Salt of the Earth.

Individual Worth, the store was Down East Basics with a Scrabble Tile Necklace (you can purchase the printable pages on my Etsy shop!) and a quote explaining what Individual Worth IS.

Knowledge, the store was Barnes and Noble, and they each got a pencil with a quote about the power of knowledge.

Choice and Accountability, the store was Best Buy. They each got a Jenny Phillips CD.

Good Works, the store was Hallmark. Each girl got a bag of blank cards so they could use them to make someone's day!

Integrity, the store was Fanzz. The handout was a wiffle ball with a quote.

Virtue was what we wanted to focus on most of all. The store was Kay Jewelers so we could talk about the importance of living a virtuous life. We focused less on jewelry and displayed a lot of wedding stuff. Pictures in front of the temple, wedding dresses, etc. Plus, a bunch of us put our wedding rings on display!

It went really well! The only downside is that it's ALL I did this week.

What'd you do?

But guess what?!?!
I've been crocheting again! YAY!!! I am so close to being done with my Flag Afghan, but now I'm out of the blue yarn I need. So I'm also crocheting a cute little shrug. If it works. I'm not sure I'm doing it right or that I even understand the whole pattern....
I'd show you a picture, but it's on Ravelry

AND!!!! On top of that, I'm reading. Yes, people, I am reading! I'm hosting book club at my house on the 17th of March. We're discussing Anne of Green Gables. I really hope to be able to have homemade bread and all kinds of preserves. I know I can't actually find all the different kinds they mention (blue plum, yellow plum, crab apple, strawberry, etc) without spending a small fortune, so I'll do with what we can. I am really happy that we agreed on this book, though. I forgot how much I loved it!

Friday Finish It

I can't believe I forgot to post this last week!

Well, I made a button for you to grab so people can link back here to Friday Finish it from your blog! Feel free to grab it!! Thank you SO much Sarah for doing the HTML part for me!! You're my Friday Hero!!!!

Anyway, this week I worked on TWO things. First, digital stuff. I worked on lots n lots of digital stuff. The Overlays I posted for the Designer Darling Contest were my big thing. The overlays themselves didn't take too long, it was the FULL day of scanning things to make into overlays that took ages. I think they turned out pretty good, though!

Also, I worked on New Beginnings. New Beginnings is a program we do at the beginning of the year to introduce the 11 year olds to the other Young Women and leaders so they can get excited about coming to Young Womens when they turn 12. We try to make it different every year. This year I borrowed the idea of doing a mall. There are 8 Values we try to teach the Young Women: Faith, Divine Nature, Individual Worth, Knowledge, Choice and Accountability, Good Works, Integrity, and Virtue. Anyway-  so the mall idea is that we are associating a mall store with each value. But because it's a mall, I'm doing a handout in each store. Which means I've been MAKING the handouts. Here's my favorite:

We made them in a bunch of different colors. In my Etsy shop, I have a whole page of these already sized for Scrabble Tile necklaces. Colors are customizable.

Are you tired of seeing my temple print yet? Well, you get to see it one more time. Remember the Love Notes book I featured a couple weeks ago? I decided to make a couple more!!
These are available at WhoopDWhoop!! So if you want 'em, you don't even have to pay money!

So.....

Since I got kicked off the Designer Darling competition, all my stuff is free. Yay for you! Please don't forget to leave a little love. Sometimes I seriously wonder if I'm doing this all just because. This is totally not meant to sound like a plea for attention or anything like that. I just feel like I should be honest with my peeps, lol.

Here's the first one, called Praiseworthy. Click on the preview for direct download.

The papers and elements are together in one download. Direct download on the elements picture.

This one I'm STILL having mixed emotions about. Click on image to direct download.
THese are overlays. You can use them to make commercial use items if you want. Click image to direct download.

Also, these can't be available forever since I can only put so much in my dropbox. If you would like them and the links happen to be expired (which won't be for a while) go ahead and e-mail me or leave your e-mail address in the comments so I can get them to you.
