hot pad holders and I dropped them, so they were alright, but these....

Who I am

Hi everybody! My name is Robyn. I'm a SAHM with two beautiful, albeit hyper, children and one on the way. I used to own my own business, but since it has not worked very well w/ my children or my schedule, I decided to share some ideas with you. In exchange, I need motivation! Thanks a Million:

• Penny Necklace
• Penny Pals-
• Dollar Shirt or any other dollar oragami
• A wallet- out of cassettes, duct tape, scrap fabric, crocheted, or others
• A dollar book- Looks like this but made like this
• If you have the materials, you could make a change necklace
• Cell Phone Cosy, clothespins, stationary... anything decorated with a dollar sign. Try these tut's and add your money symbol as you see fit. Electronic gifts, stationary, clothespins

Thanks a Bunch:

• clothespin flowers- paint a clothespin and add felt flowers and a magnet like this
• Felt Flowers- add magnets or pins to make the flower versatile
• Pressed Flower stationary
• Seeds
• Paper bouquet like this one with tissue paper, this one with cardstock, this one with duct tape, or this one with fabric
• Oragami flowers
• Flower Pens- Get an artificial flower, and trim the stem down to fit on the pen body. hold it against the pen. wrap both in floral tape. *tip* sometimes WalMart will have bags of all their loose artificial flowers for UBER cheap, like by their scrap fabrics under the cutting table
• Things to buy: stickers, seeds, flowerpot, gardening tools

Gift Ideas

Ok, I was cleaning out my hard drive and saw all these gift "pails" and baskets, kits, and things like this. I couldn't bear to throw them out. I never had the funds to put them together and sell them, so instead, I thought I'd share them w/ you. Some of them even have the cost with them, so you know how much to expect.

Today we'll start with "care packages."

Best Friends: (this is more for girls between 7-14 yrs old)

• A card
• Clothespin Dolls*- these can be done two ways. In a kit for the receiver to put together themselves, or already made. Find out how to make them here (although I'd look for the clothespins at the dollar store first, that's where I found mine). For cute packaging, try this
• Friendship Bracelets* Learn how here
• No Sew Fleece Pillow KIT (so she has something to do). Just include materials and instructions, found here
• Photo Holder- there are lots of different kinds to make. One is here. You can also try this: Cut small styrofoam ball in half. Painted as desired. Cut 1-3 pieces of 24 guage wire into say 10" -12"pieces. Curl into spirals at one end. Stick into foam. Decorate as desired.
• Headbands- Scarfbands or Take some ribbon, as wide as you like, measure it so it goes *almost* around the head (make sure it's a similar size for the person you're sending it to). Make sure the edges aren't going to unravel by either hemming, fray checking or burning the edges. On one end of the scarf, sew a button. On the other, loop a piece of thin elastic and sew it to that edge. Put it around head and make sure the loop fits around the button.
• Jump Rope- not very expensive, but if you know how to knit, then try this one
• CD Case Book- you could put pictures of you and the person you're sending it too, or write a story. They're adorable!
• Things to just buy: stickers, lip gloss, the person's favorite candy, glitter pens, mini notebooks, cute erasers

Get Well Soon:

• Heating pad: make in a square for anywhere or as an eye mask. Use rice and any scrap fabrics, aren't they beautiful?
• For younger kids, the special box would be a great way to occupy them. If you use stamp pads, be sure to include a few "fingerprint animals" or fingerprint crafts. If it's an option, Ed Embry books would be GREAT with this!
• Soup in a Jar- Find a recipe for chicken noodle soup here and other soups here
• Slippers- all kinds, there are! knitted, felted, crocheted, and others
• Spiced Tea in a Jar
• Stuffed animal- there are so many tutorials for all kinds of stuffed animals, but here is the basic. Here are some more complicated ideas
• Things to buy: Mug, bowl, favorite magazine, DVD rental gift card

I'm sorry! I'ts been FOREVER

Ok, so I know I'm lame. But I bought material for a dress for Juliana yesterday. I'm excited about it. The dress will be similar to this, that I found on Flickr

I am also thinking SERIOUSLY of re-learning to crochet. I think my problem last time was the hook size. My tension is off if I use a small hook. So, we'll see

Been a while, I know I know

But I have done a project, I promise!! I made "crayon cookies" with my kids. I found the tutorial on Kristin's blog http://homegrownrose.typepad.com/reclaimingthehome/2007/12/mutt-muffins-an.html

My kids had a blast making them (yeah, they started snapping their brand new crayons in hopes of more). We will be making a bunch more soon and I hope they still love them. I'd like to get square pans and some fun shaped muffin tins to do some uber-cute crayons!
