March LDS Blog Train

Please remember that I'm posting a day early! Most won't be up till morning!!!

It's a new month!! Time for the March blog train! The theme this month focused on the 6 Be's that President Hinckley gave to the youth a few years ago about how to be the best person they can BE!
You can find the talk HERE.
Later, President Hinkley wrote a book adding 3 more BE ATTITUDES. The book is FANTASTIC! It's called Way To Be and you can buy it HERE (or as a Nook Book HERE).
Anyway, Andi picked a fab color scheme this month.

*LINK FIXED, THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME KNOW!!! HOPE YOU ENJOY!!*
Without further ado- I present to you

Hey Look! I scrapped! AND!!!

I made a page tonight with my friend, Julie. It was awesome:

background paper: digilicious- shabby holiday
blue stripes & argyle: me!! Craft With Me- Called to Serve
yellow floral- SAHM-Afternoon Delight
yellow grungy- Tricia's Treasures- Afternoon Delight
bracket design- Scrappin Cop- colored and altered by me
bead scatter- twin mom scraps- StudioNSD- recolored
heart sucker- every ever after moment- Birthday Wishes
Swirly Heart- Scrappin Cop
Pennant- sf (not sure where it came from- can't find a preview)- recolored
Font- Ali Edwards

But guess what?!?!
I've been crocheting again! YAY!!! I am so close to being done with my Flag Afghan, but now I'm out of the blue yarn I need. So I'm also crocheting a cute little shrug. If it works. I'm not sure I'm doing it right or that I even understand the whole pattern....
I'd show you a picture, but it's on Ravelry

AND!!!! On top of that, I'm reading. Yes, people, I am reading! I'm hosting book club at my house on the 17th of March. We're discussing Anne of Green Gables. I really hope to be able to have homemade bread and all kinds of preserves. I know I can't actually find all the different kinds they mention (blue plum, yellow plum, crab apple, strawberry, etc) without spending a small fortune, so I'll do with what we can. I am really happy that we agreed on this book, though. I forgot how much I loved it!

About love.... again

So, have you wondered at all what I was doing with all the fun quotes I got from your kiddos? I was making a kit!!! Only a couple of the quotes were turned into word art, but I'm including a file in the kit download because they're pretty funny.

Without further ado....

Don't forget to leave me some love, please?

Friday Finish It

I can't believe I forgot to post this last week!

Well, I made a button for you to grab so people can link back here to Friday Finish it from your blog! Feel free to grab it!! Thank you SO much Sarah for doing the HTML part for me!! You're my Friday Hero!!!!

Anyway, this week I worked on TWO things. First, digital stuff. I worked on lots n lots of digital stuff. The Overlays I posted for the Designer Darling Contest were my big thing. The overlays themselves didn't take too long, it was the FULL day of scanning things to make into overlays that took ages. I think they turned out pretty good, though!

Also, I worked on New Beginnings. New Beginnings is a program we do at the beginning of the year to introduce the 11 year olds to the other Young Women and leaders so they can get excited about coming to Young Womens when they turn 12. We try to make it different every year. This year I borrowed the idea of doing a mall. There are 8 Values we try to teach the Young Women: Faith, Divine Nature, Individual Worth, Knowledge, Choice and Accountability, Good Works, Integrity, and Virtue. Anyway-  so the mall idea is that we are associating a mall store with each value. But because it's a mall, I'm doing a handout in each store. Which means I've been MAKING the handouts. Here's my favorite:

We made them in a bunch of different colors. In my Etsy shop, I have a whole page of these already sized for Scrabble Tile necklaces. Colors are customizable.

Are you tired of seeing my temple print yet? Well, you get to see it one more time. Remember the Love Notes book I featured a couple weeks ago? I decided to make a couple more!!
These are available at WhoopDWhoop!! So if you want 'em, you don't even have to pay money!

So.....

Since I got kicked off the Designer Darling competition, all my stuff is free. Yay for you! Please don't forget to leave a little love. Sometimes I seriously wonder if I'm doing this all just because. This is totally not meant to sound like a plea for attention or anything like that. I just feel like I should be honest with my peeps, lol.

Here's the first one, called Praiseworthy. Click on the preview for direct download.

The papers and elements are together in one download. Direct download on the elements picture.

This one I'm STILL having mixed emotions about. Click on image to direct download.
THese are overlays. You can use them to make commercial use items if you want. Click image to direct download.

Also, these can't be available forever since I can only put so much in my dropbox. If you would like them and the links happen to be expired (which won't be for a while) go ahead and e-mail me or leave your e-mail address in the comments so I can get them to you.

Whoo are You?

Hey, it's Tuesday!! Time for Who Are You over at Night Owl Crafting. Stop there, get the questions, then answer 'em on your blog. THEN go back and add your link to her linkybox and leave comments on other peoples blogs.

1. What did you get/give for Valentine's Day?
I got Roger some candies that I put cute sayings on (and some other stuff that I won't mention here). We all drew names so we wouldn't have to buy a million gifts. I got my own name so I picked out some fun socks! (Pics in the post before this). Also, hubby got me

this necklace, the matching earrings, and another pair of earrings called Raspberry splash. Order them at www.liasophia.com/fishybling and ask me about the specials. Nice plug, huh?!
2. Do you have a vacation planned in the next couple of months or in the summer?
Originally we were going to go to New Mexico in March, but I'm not sure if that's going to happen or not. It all depends how much our tax return is. Right now, it's about even with our credit  card balance, so not a whole lot of play money available.
3. What is one thing you do to pamper yourself?
I like it when hubby paints my toes. I like to eat chocolate. Pamper myself? I really don't know what that's like.
4. What sparks your interest to other people's blogs?
Personal interest in the person, tutorials I can actually DO or afford materials, too. People I can relate to.
5. What kind of a mood are you in today?
A very interesting one. I'm kinda mellow today, but slightly frustrated. But also peaceful and still happy bout the fun night we had last night. And also, grateful that I don't have to plan much for tonight's Young Womens.

Happy Valentine's Day

So, most years we don't celebrate V-day till the day after. Everything's 50% off! Babysitters are more available (not that we've ever actually had a babysitter for a V-day date......) but this morning I was reading on my Facebook and saw The Dating Divas' post about a last minute date and decided- what the heck? Why not? Sooo..... I got laundry all put away and started planning!

First, we drew names. Each person in the family drew a name of another and we decided to buy gifts for each other! So once school was out, we headed to the store! We split up so Daddy and Juliana went on a hunt for gifts for Xander and Vaughn and Mommy stuck with the boys to get the rest of the gifts. I also picked up a few extras in my cart.

Then we came home and made dinner!! What, you ask,  did I make?! Well, I took the idea RIGHT off of the Dating Divas link that I posted before and made Heart Shaped Hamburgers!!

I bought the cute little plastic goblets at the dollar store in 2 packs. I bought the glass ones there, too, but they're not adorable like the others!
After we ate, we opened our presents. Xander got Daddy some new pens:
Vaughn got Juliana a new necklace:
Mommy got herself some cute new socks (a 3 pack!)
Daddy got Vaughn a bubble gun
Juliana got Xander some cool colored bubbles

After all that, we played Picktureka. Then we said prayers and Daddy got the kids to bed while I went downstairs and got stuff ready for our part of the date. I won't go into any detail, but it was the first time in the 7 1/2 years we've been married that we've used candelight. Also, we watched When In Rome. Which I loved the first time but even MORE so now that I've watched Veronica Mars. Which, by the way:

You're Welcome!

About love....

Hey all, can I ask a favor? I have a little somethin' somethin' in the works that I'm going to call "About Love" but I want to get the opinions of KIDS!!! From as young as they can talk all the way up to those silly teenagers.

Would you mind asking your kid(s) one or more of the following questions, then posting their first name, age, and answer here?

1) Tell me about love
2)How do you know if you're in love?
3) What do people in love do?

Thanks!!!

PS. Here are Juliana's answers (she's 5)

1) It's about your heart, hugs, and kisses. It's about Valentine's Day
2) You have to say the words, "I love you."
3) They see you and know you look pretty.

Whoopdwhoop!

I'm SO excited!!! I now have THREE things up on Whoopdwhoop!! Two of them, I added tonight, than's to Sarah at Sew Very Happy. Since she liked my little Love Notes book, I made a few more. I technically made 3, but one of them turned out not so fantastic. Also, I made my first whoopdwhoop purchase or swap, whatever you wanna call it. There are LOTS of things I wanted, but I went practical and got something I can use first.

Wanna see what I posted?

What's that you ask? Why does the print look familiar? Oh yeah, it's because I have it offered here on my blog! And that brings me to some very exciting news! I will very soon be selling a whole bunch of different temple prints at ctr-ring.com!! Like, tomorrow soon!! There will be 9 temples, 15 colors, and 45 font combinations to choose from! AND..... it's affordable. YUP! Can you believe it?!?!

ALSO!

I just used this same print to make some cute Scrabble Tile Necklaces. Ok, well, I've printed them and tomorrow a friend and I are making the actual necklaces to give to my Young Women at New Beginnings. BUT! I put these pre-sized in my Etsy shop!! You pick whatever color (or combination of colors) you'd like and you get a page of 110 little pictures to print! They look like this:

And they're only $2.00 a sheet. Pretty good, in my opinion! That makes them like, $.18 each!

What else would you like to see on Scrabble Tile Necklaces?

Retro Game Time

So, it's time to turn in Round 3 of the Designer Darling at Stuff to Scrap. This time, we were given a couple of pictures and were told to take our inspiration from there. Now, I am not normal, so I hope mine flies. The focus of the pictures were these yummy looking peaches. Which got THIS:

stuck in my head. But I didn't want to go that route. So the SECOND thing to pop in my head was Princess Peach. So hubby and I got out the Super Nintendo and started playing Super Mario Brothers. Which, by the way, doesn't even have Princess Peach in it. At least, not the first 2 worlds. But there is yoshi! I took a lot of my pattern ideas directly from the game, but Princified it. :D

Here is what my full kit looks like:

Friday Finish It

I hope everyone had a great week!! What did you finish in the crafty department? I finished a couple things:

I painted 3 frames
I also made the art inside the white frame, but to be honest with you, it's not my favorite. So I printed the Orange Salt Lake Temple print that I posted a few days ago and I'll be putting it in the white frame instead.
The pink one looks pretty awesome, too. I also printed one of the Subway Art pieces that I offered on my facebook page. It'll go in the pink frame.
The teal frame- isn't actually for me. It's for my awesome cousin Candace who rocks. The hearts are available at this totally awesome site I found out about called WhoopdWhoop- it's handmade stuff for trading! If you're interested in joining, leave your e-mail addy in teh comments so I can refer you and get the referral points. ;)
I also made a few other Valentine's Day crafts:
This heart is made by hot gluing coffee filters to a piece of foamboard. Granted, I hand painted the edges of 50 coffee filters to do it, but rumor has it you can soak them food coloring if you want....
These are my heart garlands. Cardboard hearts with fabric hot glued onto them, then hot glued onto a piece of ribbon. One for me and one for my friend Andi at Hot Pink Pansy

I did make one more thing this week- a recycled project, actually. At church on Sunday, my kids take these pads of paper (thanks Bobbi!) that are just promotional, you know. But Vaughn goes through the paper like CRAZY! He thinks it's so funny to tear them off. But it makes me sick to just throw away 20 pages every week, so for at least one week, I kept em. THen I folded them in half so the empty backs were showing, grabbed a scrap paper and a hot glue gun, threw on a few rub-ons, and made m'self a "Love Notes" book for hubby and I  to pass little notes to each other (meaning, I wrote him once and he's had it since)

What did YOU finish this week?
