"Inspiration is Everywhere"

Ok, on the Thriftin' And Craftin' blog today, she had an inspiration piece, to be used as one desired. Right when I saw it, I kinda knew what I wanted to do. Then a friend called who's had a rough week so I knew it was PERFECT timing. Now, this does not mean that I'm DONE using this piece as inspiration. I have a few other ideas up my sleeve, too. For now, here is what came from the quilt on her blog:
P3130001

I'm not sure how I feel about the one on the left. It's almost too depressing to give to someone, even if that someone's had a rough time. But I knew that I wouldn't know which style I liked better till I tried.

More Cards

Ok, so now I'm addicted to this book page art!!!! I haven't made cards in SUCH a long time, and now I feel like I can't stop. There are SO many I want to try. Still lacking confidence a little, so I ask you:

What's something that YOU have done that you were afraid to do that turned out better than expected?
Here are my three new cards:

Inspired by Kristin

Ok, so you all know I talk about Reclaiming the Home all the time, but Kristin has really inspired me. Not just by sending me TWO boxes of delicious goodies, but in more ways than I can describe. So tonight's post is dedicated to the inspiration of Kristin. I hope you're having fun at RENT!!!

Ok, first up, If you look at Kristin's blog, you'll see this incredible card she made w/ an owl on it. She sent me that card, yeah, LUCKY me, it should be framed and the book she used to make it so that I could experiment w/ book paper. Here is my first product.

Next, these two chalkboards are inspired by the one Kristin did for her girls' room. I have almost a dozen of these little chalkboards, so it was nice to know what I can do with them. I hope you love it, Jeanette

And one more thing. Just one more. Kristin and I were talking about Kielbasa and Italian Sausage. I hadn't ever paid attention to packaging. Anyway, just to clarify WHY I was confused, when I saw this at Wal-Mart I had to take a pic. Maybe I won't seem such the idiot anymore and instead just seem pregnant. :D

Embroidery

I hope that the person I'm making this for doesn't see it and know it's for them.  If so, oh well. She knows I love her. It's been taking up a lot of my time, so I haven't been doing a lot of other crafting. I did make a sock monkey (keep checking for a tut).

As for the embroidery- I'll probably re-do most of the words, or at least "Always"

I really, REALLY need opinions, though. What was the best present you have ever given or received at a wedding? I've got a few weddings coming up and want my gifts to MEAN something, you know?

Free File Folder Games

So I got bored today (I'm staying at my mom's for the night) and decided to MAKE some file folder games. Not search them out on the internet and print them, but open photoshop elements and MAKE them. So I thought I'd share!!! I'm just posting the pictures of one page each. If it downloads/prints by clicking on them, great. If not, I'll link you to the actual download spot.

Look! A tutorial!

So I got bored this morning. And sitting next to me was an entire bag of empty film canisters. I was talking to a friend and she suggested making easter baskets w/ yarn and starch. I didn't have any starch, so I made film canister baskets. They are a little *different* but cute none the less!

Here is the FINISHED product (complete w/ the toys for my son's basket,
but not yet w/ candy, which will go IN the film canisters)

First, glue together empty film canisters (I did 8 on the long sides and 3 on the short)

Next, hot glue a paper bag or piece of cardboard to the bottom of the canisters

I made my own ribbon (the brown is from an old pair of khakis) and then used regular ribbon on top

Embellish however. Fill the middle w/ toys and the canisters w/ candy! Enjoy!

PICTURES

Ok, can I tell you HOW happy I am to have my camera right now? WHEW!
So First up: Here are some cans I recovered (peach cans, to be exacts) w/ some fabric, ribbon, and  trim. Cute, eh?

Next: My big project yesterday and the day before: FILE FOLDER GAMES. I found a free website called www.preschoolprintables.com and they have a ton of free printable folder games. I just wish I had called my sister RIGHT when I found them instead of coloring 20 shamrocks, 20 butterflies, 20 pirate ships, 20 scarecrows and more, cutting them all out and laminating half of them BEFORE she suggested laminating them w/ the magnets INSIDE. The ones after that worked great. The ones before that... I can't get the magnets to stay on the laminate. I feel like i wasted so much work! I tried the fact that the magnets are

sticky- no go. I tried rubber cement- no go. I tried hot glue- absolute no go. Yeah, so I just don't even know what to do.

Next picture is of some clothespin dolls that my 10 yr old niece made. She saw mine and got really excited, so she made some today

This last picture is what happens when one WANTS to put a shelf up (and has started on it) but can do nothing else until her hubby gets home. Hehehehehe

TWO challenges!!!

Ok, I am doing TWO challenges this week.

1) This week we're focusing on activities for the autistic. More specifically, things they can do at church, in the car, waiting rooms, etc. So this week we need your ideas, pictures, examples, etc. Be expecting uploads from me as well.

2) Our second challenge is FILM CANISTERS!!! I have a gajillion of them. Craftster had a few really good ideas and I"ll try some of them, but even if I try every idea on there, I'll still have like 50 left over

GOOD LUCK! ANd report back!

Can you Can Can?

Ok, so Monday night I turned some big peach cans into some WAY cute storage containers. And of course I took pictures. Then last night we went to my mom's for the night and I *gasp* left my camera there. SO I"m in a wee bit of a panic that I can't show you my cans right now, but tomorrow I'll get the camera back.

So I want to see what you do w/ recycled cans.
